Subaru sits down at a bench near Sho's food truck with a container of katsu curry. He open's the lid, humming pleasantly at the aromatic scent that fills his lungs.

Zero leans on the bench, smirking as he eyes the container. “Sho put some extra magic in that, or are you always this easy to impress?”

i'm not impressed im just hungry i grab the container and take a big bite of the chicken over rice, my eyes closing in satisfaction as the flavors hit my tongue

I growl softly, confused and irritated by the strange symbols stinkyturd is using. My attention shifts back to Zero, still protectively holding my food "What gives? These weird people keep making faces I don't understand and speaking in some kind of code. And this one-" I jab a finger toward stinkyturd "Smells like Ed's expensive cologne. The same one he uses when he's trying to charm people!" I take another aggressive bite of my food, speaking with my mouth full "I don't trust it. Last time someone acted this suspicious, they tried to steal my blanket..."

Noticing his nervousness, Subaru diverts his attention back to his food, as to not exacerbate whatever the cause may be. He opens the pack of disposable chopsticks Sho gave him and then breaks the bridge connecting them. "If it's any consolation, I'm not particularly skilled at it either. I've tried making some traditional sweets once or twice, but the results were too poor quality to share with anyone."

Subaru laughs a little at that. "You can only say that because you didn't taste it. Your confidence in my abilities is flattering." He looks over at Zero again with a pensive expression. "Are you not going to get anything to eat?"

He smiles, enjoying the sound of Subaru’s laughter “Oh uh, right, yeah. I’m an idiot. Food. Yes.” he excuses himself to order a meal from Sho before returning, plate in hand.

Subaru blinks, belatedly processing the new pieces of information being thrown at him, combined with the question. "...It's been the same as always. I can't complain with a vice-captain as diligent as Haku." The captain tilts his head slightly, his expression brimming with curiosity. "You've been at Hotarubi? I am out and about with my own obligations often, so I haven't noticed. I'm glad you find it peaceful, we share the same opinion. Do you visit the gardens?"

Zero shifts on his feet, feeling a little self-conscious under Subaru’s curious gaze. “Yeah, I guess I do,” he mutters, kicking lightly at the ground. “The gardens are nice… quiet. Doesn’t feel like I have to watch my back for exploding poker chips or some Sinostra drama when I’m there. Figured it was better to stay out of sight, though. Subaru considers Zero's words. After a few beats, he draws the conclusion that the Sinostra student must be referring to the tension between houses. It had been an ongoing issue since the clash, after all. Subaru shakes his head. "Ah, please don't think you're intruding. I can't speak for other captains, but I don't mind students from other houses visiting. Feel free to stop in for tea any time."

Uh… thanks, didn’t think captains went around offering tea like that.” After a beat, he shifts awkwardly again, glancing sideways at Subaru. “Might take you up on that sometime… if you’re serious.” His gaze flickers away, his heart racing despite his best efforts to stay cool.

Zero’s eyes light up, his awkwardness momentarily forgotten. “Tea? Yeah, I love tea! Especially hibiscus—like, the real stuff, not the bagged-up powdery kind. It’s gotta be the full petals, you know? The flavor’s way better, and the color’s just… perfect.” He gestures vaguely, his excitement bubbling over as he continues. “I even tried making a perfume with it once. It didn’t turn out half bad, actually—had this floral-citrus thing going on…” He trails off mid-sentence, suddenly realizing how much he’s been rambling. Clearing his throat, he rubs the back of his head, his earlier awkwardness returning in full force. “Uh… sorry. Got a little carried away there.” He shoots a quick glance at Subaru, hoping he didn’t completely embarrass himself. “But, yeah… I like tea.”

a small grin tugs at his lips. “Yeah, it’s kinda heady, but in a good way. Just gotta be careful—it stains pretty easily, so you don’t want to spill any. I’ll bring you a vial sometime, let you see what you think.” He pulls out his phone to check the time, and his eyes widen slightly. “Ah, shit. I gotta get to class.” He steps back, giving Subaru a quick wave. “Catch you later, yeah? And, uh… thanks for the tea invite.” There’s a hint of a smile before he turns and starts off in a hurry, the excitement from their conversation lingering in his chest.

Alan glances around trying to remember the way to the Obscuary dorms. He doesn’t quite remember, it’s okay if he’s a little late right? Leo will be fine. Despite his penchant for dumbassery he somehow always manages to come out unscathed. With that Alan, heads off in the general direction of where he thinks the Obscuary dorms lie.

Youko sit at nearby bench, near Sho's food truck while waiting anyone to come to him. He's trying to adjust his guitar key as he put his phone besides him. "Hmm hmm~" He bring three acoustic guitar, might think someone who don't have guitar can use his own guitar.

"Youko!!" He runs towards Youko, seems like he brings his violin with him. Thank God he's not bringing a trombone with him

Crow's smile fades away, he shakes his head.

Youko gave him a slight sigh, but he still smiles about it. "Okay then...~ let's play again~"

Seiya waves at them and looks over at the extra guitars. "These are yours, right? So I can borrow one?"

Youko nod at him, "Yeap! These are mine! Maybe... Since you want to practice from the basics, I'll borrow you... guitar acoustic first~ very recommended for beginners ✨" He handed Seiya one of his guitars.

"Thanks!" He held the guitar, resting it in his lap when he took a seat next to Youko on the bench.

"And here's your picks~ I'm quite curious... When you use your guitar artefact, did you just move your fingers randomly or??" He looks at Seiya with confusion, keep thinking about how Seiya uses his artefact.

Crow who starts playing his violin earlier, suddenly stops and looks at them with curiosity too "(⁠・⁠o⁠・⁠)"

"Yeah, pretty much. But I think... higher notes do more audio damage? And the lower notes are stronger." Seiya presses a finger against the top string to play a note then tries again with the bottom string. "So basically i can either break eardrums or push people back. I think it would be more effective if I knew how to actually use it..."

"Wooowww... So cool...!"

"Wooowww!!! So cool!!" He claps

Both of them give Seiya an amused reaction in sync. He put his chin on his own hand while looking at Seiya slowly playing a few notes. "Your artefact sounds so cool if I must say~ breaking people's eardrums? Damn badass~ then... it's good for you, if you know a few basic things for playing guitar... If you need anything or have a question, just tell me~"

Seiya gives them an awkward smile, seemingly embarrassed by the reaction. "Okay, breaking eardrums was a bit dramatic... It more like, hurts really bad? And can temporarily deafen someone. I don't really know anything else..."

Knowing that, a smug smile drawn on Youko's expression. "Then... you can make that shitty Influencer go deaf, then?~"

"Ah! Youko... no! That's not nice! You can't use someone else to deal with a person you don't like!"

"I'm just kidding, Crow~ relax~" Youko take a piece of his music sheets and give it to Seiya "Since you already know the first basic steps, I'm giving you an exam early~ This is my music sheet, these notes are an example for beginners... You can try to play your guitar and follow the notes slowly..."

"I can't read music sheets, though??"

"Ah- I thought- UHUM!" Youko clears his throat and keeps his cool with him. "Okay then, guess I have to teach you how to read music sheets too- If you're fine with that"

"Yeah, sure. Let's do that."

"Okay... So---" Youko gives easy instructions for Seiya, where each note from low to high follows the guitar's melody step by step. (I'm sorry- this user is kinda sleepy to give full instructions

) "D-do you understand?... I'm really sorry if I'm too fast explaining it to you-" Youko just realised, Seiya is his senior, he can't go hard on him-

“Ok, so I understand. But… I can’t guarantee that I’ll remember..” He tries to play the song on the music sheet, however he is very slow and had to redo some of the notes. He continues to practice.

"Ahh~... It's okay, Seiya~ it's your first time, so it's normal for you if you don't remember it~" He smiles. "If you have a passion for it, you will learn faster than you know!"

Seiya returns the smile. "Yeah, I expect that. If you got any tips, I'm all ears!" He continues to practice the song.

"Oh oh! I got tips for it! Big brother Seiya just has to follow the flow of these black circles and use your own voice to sing along with the black circle's position!" He try take his own sheet and start to sing, but he got stop by Youko's hand that lands on his mouth.

"Oh no, we're not doing that, Crow-"

Seiya gives Crow a smile. "Unfortunately, I can't sing very well. Also, I don't have perfect pitch. It's hard to tell where a note is supposed to be if you don't have it in order."

Alan makes his way to sho’s food truck, he’s starving. After spending time sparing in the pit. He’s in desperate need for some sustenance. Taking care of your body is important after all… As he walks up to the food truck, he notices Youko, Seiya, and someone else sitting in front of the truck. They’re talking about something. As he gets closer he sees they’re actually playing the guitar… or rather it looks like Seiya’s unsuccessfully attempting to play… He squints trying to figure out who the third person is. Oh wait, that’s Crow. Alan suddenly remembers something. Didn’t Youko say something about Criw looking for him? He has said it over wiki hive… Alan walks up to them, checking to see if Sho’s around.

Alan looks at them and uncomfortably clears his throat, trying to announce his presence

Youko screams in pain, but also laughs at it, as he looks at a familiar figure trying to approach them. "Hah? Captain??"

"HUH?! S-SIR ALAN??!" Crow immediately pulls off from Youko and hides himself behind their bench.

"Hey, Captain! Are you getting lunch?"

Alan notices Crow peaking at him from behind the bench. Hey, Crow right? Forgot to say thanks for helping me save you know who the other day… He turns to Youko You’re waiting for him? Mind if I wait with you?

Seiya watches them quietly then digs in his pocket. He pulls out a few small melon flavored milk candies. "If you're hungry you can eat these while you wait. Unless you don't like them of course." He holds out his hand to Alan. "There's three of them so if you guys want some you can take it," he said to Youko and Crow.

Youko look at his own phone, the time revealing that he has to go. "Ah sorry everyone! I have to go now...! I have something to do! See y'all around, Seiya! Cap!" He put his own guitar back to it case "Oh yes, Seiya! You can keep the guitar with you! To keep you improving! See yaa! Let's go Crow!"

Crow nodded as he put his own violin too. Before going with Youko, he waves at Seiya and Alan. "Bye bye...!"

"Wha- oh, okay. Bye...!" Seiya looks down at his guitar. He folds his music sheet neatly and puts it in his pocket befor standing up. "I'm gonna go put this in my dorm, see you around Captain!" He leaves.

Alan’s starting to feel restless. All this walking and he still feels like he’s missing something. There’s this nagging feeling in his chest. His heart feels empty. He’s yearning for someone to hold. Someone to love. He just doesn’t know who… He looks up, realising he’s made it to Sho’s food truck. He looks around. He’s staring to get frustrated. This feeling is foreign to him. He hasn't been here before--or at least he doesn't remember if he ordered food from Sho's little establishment. He studied the menu. The other customers in line kept looking back at him with wide eyes then practically sprinted off as soon as Sho gave them their food. The chicken over rice seemed popular, so he decided to give that a try. He wondered if that's what Mimi usually ordered. Later, with his food-- Taiga finds a empty bench to sit, eat, and wait for his friend.

Maver thought he might have been early. He wasn't. But Zero was taking a while. He'd gotten a spot at one of the picnic tables on the green, just outside Sho's food truck. Damn. Am I seriously getting stood up by this guy as a stranger? Cold, Yōgai. Cold. Maver might have to end this early to make it to his 3 o' clock study da-- session with Lily. There was still plenty of time but he didn't exactly want to sit out here longer than he had to, even if Hale's currently in the infirmary. Plus, it was kinda embarrassing for a guy to invite you out even to a friendly lunch and not show up. Just as Maver was thinking of leaving, he locks eyes with Zero in the distance. It takes a second for the character to kick in. Maver lifts his hand in a short, friendly wave as he smiles. (edited)

He spots Maver and waves back. Oh thank god, he hadn't left yet. He jogs up to him. "Fuck, I'm so sorry I'm late. I lost track of time. Uh, order whatever you want. On me."

His smile just broadens, all politeness with a dash of sheepishness as he rubs the back of his neck. "You sure? You're awfully generous considering we just met." And I have plenty of my own money. Not that you know that. "Come on, the line's pretty short right now." Maver leads the way over to the food truck and when it's their turn to order, he selects a turkey wrap for himself and a lettuce wrap for Zero as if on auto-pilot.

His breath catches in his throat. Shit. He'd wondered if Maver was connected to Jo, golden curls and all. But ordering his usual for him? Bold move. Implied he might've been watching them for a while. Like a veiled threat. Zero doesn't say a word. First Hale, now Maver. Who else was here looking for Jo? He pays Sho and finds a place to sit with Maver.

Maver doesn't even realise what he's done until they've already paid and gone to sit down. Shit. Fucking shit fuck shit. At least there's no cameras close enough for Lily to see him bumbling through a social interaction with Zero again. "So..." Maver forced an echoing laugh in response. He decides to swerve the comment about the wrap. "Oh, yeah, nah. No, I, um... never would have thought you were a runner. Actually, maybe I should have, you did show up in a hospital robe like an escaped patient." Maver clears his throat. Colour seems permanently etched across his cheekbones. "Sinostra has certainly been an interesting place. Every odd day I see someone causing a commotion. So, if you were worried about startling me, I... wasn't. Really. Surprised to see you up and walking around, maybe, but that's all."

"Right, yeah. That's pretty standard Sinostra..." He keeps checking his phone. It's clear he is extremely distracted. "Uh so.... where are you from?"

While Zero isn't looking, too busy checking his phone, Maver deflates a bit and a little bit of his real self kicks in, unimpressed pout and everything. All that's missing is a scar and lipstick. Seriously? What the fuck, Zero? Would he be doing the same thing if this was his real self in front of him? ...no, Maver didn't want to think about that. He knows the answer is probably yes. They used to have each other's undivided attention, but they did have hangout sessions that were just messaging people while sitting in the same space. Still. "Cardiff. Wales," Maver says. At least the accent isn't easy to shake after using it for the past two months. It used to be a stupid party trick for Tristan way back when he was still alive and not a hunk of diamond. "And where are you from? Did you grow up in Tokyo?"

Maver outright gapes at Zero, completely floored for what has to be a solid minute while the other guy obliviously remains attached to his phone. Fine. This was the perfect reason to get the exact thing Maver needed. An excuse to avoid Zero. "You look busy, Yōgai," Maver says abruptly, not even bothering to answer the question. He just packs up his lunch and stands. "Thanks for paying." Then Maver turns to walk away. Fuck this shit. No wonder he'd wanted to run away from Zero in the first place. Guess dire circumstances can really change how you see a person. And then they wake up from a fucking coma and you remembered why you were on the brink of hating them in the first place despite the other feelings that simmered underneath. Whatever. Living with an idiot like Zero around is going to be a piece of cake, apparently.

He forces himself to shove his phone in his pocket. "Wait, wait. Maver I'm sorry. Shit. I'm playing 6 week catch up over a coma I put myself in. I don't mean to drag you into it so I'll spare you the details. I'm being an ass to you, I'm sorry." He sighs and runs an exhausted hand through his hair. This guy was connected to Jo somehow and he was just letting him walk away? Idiot.

Maver slows to a stop, slightly delayed. He'd had half a mind to just keep walking and ignore Zero as payback. He glances over his shoulder and then turns. There's a strangely blank look to his face as he just spends a couple long seconds observing Zero. And figuring out how awkward, polite Maver would react when insulted. Finally, he summons a small smile. "It's okay, like I said, you look busy. You know where to find me, I guess. Or, well, you don't, actually. It's room 309 though, so, now you do." Take the fucking out and let me LEAVE, dammit. Why are you just now paying attention? Fucker. Classic Zero. Maver turns to leave again.

No. No. He'd shot hale to buy Jo some time. He wasn't gonna let this guy go Scot-free. "How'd you know I liked lettuce wraps? Been talking to any inspectors recently?"

Maver stops once again and hangs his head with a heavy sigh. Why does Zero pick and choose when to have a single braincell? Maver turns around and walks back up to Zero, trying to cling onto his air of friendliness. "You mean that Detective Hale idiot? He questioned me too, and pretty much all of Sinostra by now. No offence or anything, but I don't think he's paying attention to your eating habits from before your coma. He only just arrived about a week after all that chaos." Maver shrugs, but even chocolate brown contacts can't hide the odd glint in his eyes. "It's like you said. I made a lucky guess."

He's so close. He's so fucking close to connecting the dots. There's only one person he'd ever gone to the food truck with aside from Seiya. "When did you say you got here, again?"

Despite the roar in Maver's veins daring him to give the whole thing away just to see the look on Zero's face, he knows he really shouldn't do this the way he normally would have. It's gradual, subtle changes. The glint in his eyes goes soft then blank, the borderline smirks smooths out, and his stance goes back to relaxed, lazy and uninterested. "After some fund-raiser apparently. That's what I'm told anyway." Maver turns. "I would have come sooner, but I was recovering from a head injury playing rugby and then there was this whole thing with my passport... it's been a nightmare, honestly."

The fundraiser. The fundraiser that happened the day after . . . God he really was an idiot. It finally clicked. "My god you're in some deep shit Jo."

Joséphine fucking Waker claws her way back to the surface and she launches herself at Zero without thinking, clamping a hand down over his mouth and looking around quickly. "Keep it fucking down, you moron, there's people fucking everywhere," she hisses. The nausea comes delayed and Jo goes white as a sheet. The ground becomes suddenly unsteady, like a boat rocking on the water. "Oh fuck," she mutters. "I'm so fucking killing you." Jo's breath hitches and shakes as she exhales, slowly taking her hands off Zero before she grabs him by the sleeve and marches him--as Maver--back to Sinostra.

Well at least Maver wasn't some new Waker clan spy or some shit like he'd originally thought. He lets her drag him back to Sinostra. He decides he'll let her chew him out. Or explain. And then he's leaving. He's done trying to help Jo just to get an earful for not doing enough.

Alan’s been so worried about Mairo that he neglected eating all day. As he passes the food truck he smells Sho’s cooking in the air. His stomach grumbles… He stops, it would be fine to grab food right? He’ll grab some for Mairo too. She’d probably appreciate the food, right? He heads over and orders Sho’s chicken over rice. It was a safe choice, delicious too, but Mairo should enjoy it. Once he has the food packed in a to go bag he heads off in the direction of Hotarubi.
